Don’t Get Tired

The Righteous Brothers knew about it when they sang, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling.”  B.B. King lamented when he sang, “The Thrill Is Gone.” Phil Collins boldly sang, “I Don’t Care Anymore.”  Maybe it’s just me but I get tired of things. Do you?

I remember getting an six shooter for ChristmasTired - Toy Six Shooter as a kid. I still remember the large, shiny authentic looking gun and how tough and proud I felt carrying it my holster.  The feeling lasted for few weeks until I got tired of the gun. It was eventually replaced with the next greatest toy I ever had.

Kids get tired of toys, celebrities get tired of the rich and famous lifestyle, employees get tired of work and stepparents get tired of blended family life. You only have to look at the nearly 70% divorce rate of blended families to know that.

At first, the excitement of becoming a stepparent was strong, but now you’ve grown tried of well-doing.  Feeling like the odd man out, disrespected and unappreciated – the thrill is gone.  It’s a chore. You’re discouraged and you’ve lost heart.

Unfortunately, your good deeds especially as a stepparent don’t always get rewarded.  Regardless, you should still do them because it’s right thing to do. Keep being patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled.  Don’t grow tired of showing your family your peace and joy in all kinds of acts of love. Please watch the following video and be inspired to keep on keeping on.

Galatians 6.9 says, “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.”

Tired Quote - Never get tired of doing little things for others...
