Four Ways To Declutter Your Kitchen

All of us have been guilty of needing to get rid of a few things. Whether its clothes, toys, furniture, or any other possession, there comes a time where too much is too much.

I feel like a lot of our kitchens fall into this category. They can get cluttered very quickly. It is important to clean them out frequently. There are some easy ways to declutter your kitchen and make it look more spacious.

Floating Shelf

Using a floating shelf is one of the easiest ways to declutter your kitchen. These shelves are hung by attaching a bracket to the wall and then sliding the pegs into the back of the shelf. The shelf hides the hanging hardware giving the appearance of floating, hence the floating shelf name. Having a floating shelf for your kitchen would be great for several reasons.

  1. They look great. They have a stylish yet simple look to them. The fact that they hide the bracket that holds them up is great, it won’t detract from the look.
  2. Convenience is key. Many of us have something hanging or sitting on a counter or table. It can easily be placed up, and out of the way on this shelf. The shelves usually come in big sizes, so you can count on having a lot of room to store items without a great home.

Hidden Trash Can

One of the things that makes a kitchen feel cluttered is the trash can. Finding a place to put your trash can that is out of the way allows for a less cluttered look to the kitchen, and really adds to its appeal

Some people put the trash can in a laundry room or pantry. This works great if you have a room like this adjacent to the kitchen, providing easy and quick access.

Other people like to put their smaller cans under the sink. It allows for easy access and keeps things out of the way.

One modern technology is having a drawer explicitly built for keeping a trash can in it. It looks pretty cool, too!

Clean Counters

Probably the most cluttered part of any kitchen is the counters. We leave appliances, boxes of food, and many other things on our counters. Finding a way to clear those off is one of the quickest ways to declutter your kitchen and make it more organized.

The extra counter space will be helpful when prepping and serving food as well. It is an all-around win when you get the counters clear and open.

Unneeded Appliances

How many of us have an appliance just sitting on the counter or in a cupboard untouched? Probably most of us. Getting rid of unused appliances can really free up space, which allows you to move things off your counters or other cluttered areas into open spot.

It may mean getting rid of an older appliance you already have a replacement for. It could also be realizing many jobs done with kitchen appliances can be done by a simple kine and cutting board.

Finally, cleaning up your kitchen will make you feel a ton better. It will give you more space, look better, and make you feel like a champion. Summer is a great time for cleaning, so what are you waiting for?
