Happy Father’s Day 2023

Father’s Day comes once a year, and on this day, we take time to appreciate not only those who are fortunate enough to father children but also the brave father figures who stepped up, adding love and support to a child’s life that goes beyond DNA – stepfathers.

While being a stepfather often carries all the responsibility of a primary parental figure, stepparents often feel incredibly underappreciated. This can create feelings of isolation from their stepchildren. In reality, stepfathers are their children’s first lesson in unconditional love.

Stepfathers share a love so deep for their stepchild’s parent that they are willing to take on their beloved’s whole family, even their children, as their own. This demonstrates what love can and should look like, a hard-won lesson in trust and compassion that can never be learned too early.

As the adage goes, “It takes a village to raise our children,” and stepfathers are a quintessential part of that village. Regardless of whether their stepdad is the first adult a child turns to, stepfathers are a trusted and reliable source of support for their stepchildren. Even if they have difficulty expressing it, stepchildren appreciate the support and mentorship of having a stepfather.

Anyone who performs the father figure role is worth celebrating on Father’s Day, especially stepdads. Here are some unique and memorable ways to appreciate your stepfather for all he does this Father’s Day.

  • Paint family portraits together.
  • Cook his favorite meal together
  • Make him a “#1 Stepdad” cake
  • Prepare a slideshow presentation highlighting what makes him so great
  • Treat him to a DIY spa day
  • Write him a song or poem
  • Stage a board game tournament
  • Have a water balloon fight
  • Spend a day at the beach or pool
  • Listen to his favorite band
  • Put on a performance
  • Go fishing
  • Eat at his favorite restaurant
  • Share your favorite memories

Stepdads are dads too, and we thank stepdads everywhere for the love and devotion they provide to your stepchildren. Happy Father’s Day. If you’re new to being a stepfather, we are pleased to provide the tools and support you need to provide the best for your blended family.
