“It looks like the end is near.” Imagine hearing this from a loved one or dear friend. How would you react? How would you respond? Joel recently listened to this from his friend, Jeff.
Initially, he met Jeff at the Air Force Academy. Joel describes Jeff as a mountain of a man. Jeff was a star on the nationally-ranked Air Force Falcons football team. Jeff graduated from the academy and became a decorated warrior, serving as a combat controller and an Air Force Office of Special Investigations Agent. After his military service, he became a business icon among Academy graduates.
Jeff called Joel a few weeks ago and started the conversation by saying, “It looks like the end is near.” Jeff had been battling cancer that had spread to his spine. It was the call Joel was dreading from Jeff.
In their conversation, which lasted several hours, they discussed Jeff’s life, his legacy, and insights from his deathbed.
