Brian invited his stepmom, Christina, to his apartment for dinner with his new roommate, Jennifer. During the meal, Brian’s stepmom was struck with Jennifer’s beauty. Christina had been long suspicious of the platonic relationship between Brian and Jennifer and this only made her more curious.
Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, Christina was seriously wondering if there was more between Brian and Jennifer than meets the eye. Suspecting what his stepmom might be thinking, Brian volunteered, “I know what you must be thinking, and I assure you Jennifer and I are just roommates.”
A week goes by and Jennifer says to Brian, “Ever since your mother came to dinner, I’ve been unable to find the silver gravy ladle. You don’t suppose she took it, do you?”
Brian said, “I doubt it, but I’ll send her an email just to make sure.” Brian sat down and wrote.
Dear Christina
I’m not saying you “did” take the gravy ladle from the table and I’m not saying you “didn’t” take the ladle. However, the fact remains the ladle is missing since you were here for dinner.

Several days later, Brian received a reply from his stepmom that read.
Dear BrianI’m not saying you “do” sleep with Jennifer and I’m not saying you “don’t” sleep with Jennifer. However, the fact remains if Jennifer was sleeping in her own bed she would have found the gravy ladle by now.
