Hog Wild: Fun Ways to Celebrate National Pig Day

National Pig Day is celebrated on March 1st each year in the United States. It was created in 1972 by two sisters, Ellen Stanley and Mary Lynne Rave, to recognize and appreciate pigs as intelligent and social animals. The day is observed in various ways, including educational events, pig-themed parties, and even special treats for pet pigs.

History of National Pig Day

National Pig Day was established in 1972 by two sisters, Ellen Stanley, a teacher from Texas, and Mary Lynne Rave of North Carolina. Their goal was to recognize pigs as intelligent, social, and essential animals rather than just being associated with food. The day aims to raise awareness and appreciation for pigs as farm animals and pets.
