National Ice Cream Day ~ Friday Humor

We celebrate National Ice Cream Day on the third Sunday in July, making it one of the most enjoyable days of the year. This frozen dairy dessert is so well-liked that the entire month of July was proclaimed National Ice Cream Month in 1984.

Interestingly, Americans consume the most ice cream worldwide each year. Therefore, it was only natural to have a month-long celebration to honor our love for ice cream.

Interesting Facts about Ice Cream

Around 697 AD in China, the first instances of something like ice cream produced and consumed were documented. Although it is different from what we have today, it was a frozen concoction of dairy, salt, and ice.

According to some, the origins of ice cream stretch even further back to the Romans, who collected snow from the mountains and ate it with honey and fruit juices.

Officially, Francesco Procopio Dei Coltelli produced and sold gelato in his cafe in 1660 after perfecting a prototype for an ice cream maker by his grandpa. The public also had access to ice cream for the first time at that point. The recipe by Francesco, which included milk, butter, eggs, and cream, was quickly exported to the rest of Europe.

Thomas Jefferson gets credit for inventing the first known American ice cream recipe. This old-fashioned vanilla ice cream recipe is presently on display at the Library of Congress.

While vanilla ice cream is preferred in America and frequently used as a base for other flavors, chocolate ice cream was created first and is the most popular flavor. Cookie dough, cookies ‘n’ cream, and mint chocolate chip are some more well-liked flavors.

On July 24, 1984, as part of National Ice Cream Month, Canada created the largest ice cream sundae worldwide. It weighed around 25 tonnes and had 63 different tastes!

Here’s a hilarious joke to get you in the mood for some delicious ice cream.

An older couple was having a hard time remembering things

They arrived home from a walk, and after a few minutes of watching Television, the wife suddenly looks at her husband and says to him:

“You know, I could really go for some ice cream! Would you mind going to the kitchen and getting me some?”

Her husband, always happy to be kind, walks to the kitchen, but on the way out there, he suddenly hears his wife yell to him:

“And could you bring some strawberries as well? I really like those with ice – and you better write that down so that you won’t forget it!”

Her husband, somewhat insulted, yells back:

“I don’t need to write this down! Ice and Strawberry, I can remember that!”

“OK, but I would also like a glass of Cola!” – the wife yells.

“And you should write that down, so you won’t forget what you were going to the kitchen for!”

“Nonsense! Icecream, Strawberry, and Cola – That’s easy to remember!”

About fifteen minutes later, the husband walks into the living room with a plate in his right hand with bacon, some fried eggs, and sausages. In his left hand is a glass of milk. He tries to put it on the table before his wife when she looks angrily at him and screams:

“Where’s the toast!”

Without ice cream, there would be darkness and chaos.” — Don Kardong
