Support The Thin Blue Line
The “thin blue line” is a phrase used by the police to assert they are the line that keeps society from descending into violent chaos. The “blue” in “thin blue line” refers to the blue uniform color of many police departments.
I dedicate this post to law enforcement officers around the country and especially my friend Herb’s daughter, who is a brave member of the Bay Area law enforcement. As in any organization, people are going to fall on a bell curve where you have high, average, and low performers.
While an organization’s goal should be to shift the curve to the right, you will still end up with people who are low performers. Tragically, it seems like the officers on the left side of the Bell curve are attracting negative attention and motivating activists and protesters to call for the defunding of the police.
Please watch the following video using the speech of Paul Harvey (1918-2009). Paul is the most listened-to radio broadcaster in the world. His distinctive delivery and daily mix of news, commentary, and human interest stories informed and entertained radio audiences for nearly 60 years.
Paul Harvey’s dad inspired this speech. He was a police officer who was shot and killed while doing what police officers do every day.
Did you know how the association between police officers and donuts came about? See evidence police officers also have a great sense of humor. The next time you see a police officer, thank them and say a silent prayer for their protection and safety.
