Four Things To Do With Your Child Over The Weekend

It’s easy to let your kids entertain themselves with tablets, video games, or television, but are they getting the attention they should? Being able to provide for your child is one thing but being there for them is another.

So, here are four things to do with your child over the weekend to help you bond and create lasting memories.

Dust off the Board Games

One fun and easy way to have a good time with your kids is to dust off those old board games or go to the store and pick up an interesting new one. Strengthen your bond by playing card games like Uno Flip, Skip-Bo, or Old Maid or board games such as Ticket to Ride, Catan, or Chutes and Ladders.

Rolling the dice, spinning a spinner, or battling it out with cards gets people engaged and talking. It’s a quick and easy way to spend some time with your loved ones. Also, it doesn’t cost you anything if you already own the games.

Maybe order a pizza with your child over the weekend and make it a good old time. Being able to play games with your kids regularly promotes family bonding. If board games are not your thing, then why not get a little crafty.

Get Crafty

With a trip to your favorite craft store, you can have a grand few hours around the table crafting some neat things. Especially during the holiday season, getting crafty can involve things you can use to decorate your home.

From Halloween to Christmas, there are ample items you and your children can make to add some pizzazz to your living space such as fall wreaths, Turkey place settings, or hauntingly awesome pumpkin carvings.

Or, you can let your creativity fly with a custom-made shirt. You can buy some blank white tee shirts so everyone in the family can have fun making their own. Just imagine hosting an ugly T-shirt party at home with the caveat being everyone needs to craft their own shirts.

You and your family members can try to make the funniest looking shirt to wear at your party!

Spend Time Outdoors

Getting everyone out and away from their devices will allow you to get their undivided attention. Planning a trip over the weekend to a locally held event can provide you with memories you can hold onto for a lifetime.

Other things you can do with your child over the weekend are apple or pumpkin picking during the fall. You could also take a trip to the beach in summer or a day perusing the botanical wonders of your local gardens during the spring are all great options.

Be sure to take a camera on all of your expeditions to capture all of the fun. Who knows, you might just find some gems you’ll want to hang on the wall of your home for everyone to see.

Enjoy a Show

Last but not least, there’s the option to take in a show. It can be anything from a movie at your local cinema to a band playing. You can always see what movies are playing and surprise the family with a few hours watching the latest blockbuster film.

You can also check online to see if anything of interest is playing in the area. There’s little that compares to enjoying a live concert and if it’s their first, it becomes a special event.

With a little research, you can find a lot of fun things to go and see. Take a look at your local school’s listings as they tend to host plays or orchestral events throughout the year that are fun and cheap to attend.

These are some of the things you can do with your child over the weekend. Creating fun activities for your kids doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are some other weekend activities for every family.
