Friday Humor ~ A Drone Story

You can’t make something like this up. My close friend and Army grunt, Cornell was stationed in Helmand Province in Afghanistan.

Cornell describes Afghanistan as a third-world country where many parts are still uncovering from the rocks of the Stone Age. Cornell had a platoon mate who ran the drone missions.

One day Cornell’s buddy caught a field mouse scurrying through their base. His buddy thought it would be a great idea to shove the rodent into a water bottle and strap it on the drone for a ride.

During its flight, the drone crashed and was recovered by some local Afghanis.  The next day the locals showed up at Cornell’s base and engaging one of his unit’s interpreters.

It turns out they were demanding compensation for recovering their “lost pilot.” The locals were persistent in questioning how the soldiers trained the mouse to fly the drone. Something to make you go, “Hmmm.”
