Simple Ways To Celebrate Moms On Mother’s Day

The mother’s day celebration is commonly celebrated in March and May around the world. It’s a time to honor and appreciate mothers for the enormous role they play.

The Origin of Mother’s Day

The custom of setting aside a day to celebrate mothers is ancient. This observance began with a devoted daughter Anna M. Javis, whom after the death of her mother in 1905 decided it was essential to recognize the sacrifices mothers made for their children.

In May 1908, she organized the first mother’s day celebration at a Methodist church in Grafton West Virginia. President Woodrow Wilson on May 8th, 1914 signed a proclamation designating every second Sunday in May as mother’s day.

Shortly after this, the mother’s day celebration gained worldwide recognition.

Mothers can be made to feel special in many ways. It doesn’t have to be an expensive gift or gesture. Sometimes, even our presence or heartfelt words could make our moms feel our love and gratitude.

However, if you are confused about how to show some love to your mom, stepmom or any other motherly figure in your life on this special day, these simple tips will make all the difference.

A Lunch Date

As we’ll all agree, life can get busy, between our jobs and immediate family, there’s rarely enough time to show our parents how much they mean to us. Now will be a great time to take your mom or stepmom on that overdue lunch date.

Make them feel extra special and loved by spending the afternoon or evening sharing a meal with them and catching up on their lives.

Send Flowers

You can never go wrong with flowers. Moms especially will be smitten and have their hearts warmed up after receiving a bunch of flowers from their child.

Flowers speak where words fail. Let that special woman in your life know she’s fondly thought of and adored. You could also give your mom a new plant to add to her collection.

Mow Her Lawn

You could take a drive over to your mom’s if you are fortunate enough to live close by or in the same state. You could also drive across the country to make her mother’s day celebration memorable.

Helping her mow her lawn might be a small gesture, but it will show her how much you love and care for her. Also, your help with some house chores or tending to her garden will help her take a break, and she will be pleased.

Just sitting and having a chat with her will undoubtedly bring joy to her heart. You could cook her a meal or bring her breakfast in bed. The idea is to relieve her of some of her duties and make her feel pampered.

A Photo Locket

What better gift is there than a photo locket to celebrate moms on Mother’s day. It will allow her to carry treasured memories everywhere she goes. Find a photo that holds pleasant memories for your mom and have it fitted into a locket.

It could be a photo of you, your siblings and mom having a good time or your mom holding you in her arms when you were born. Best believe your mom will treasure this gift forever.

Make Her a Card

A card is a simple gift yet could be filled with words that convey deep meanings. Surprise mama bear with a card and be sure to write something that will stir some happy memories in her.

Here are some fantastic mother’s day quote you can draw inspiration from. Whatever you do, if it comes from your heart, and your mom or stepmom will certainly be glad. Remember a mother’s love is priceless, and they too deserve all our love and care.
