Stepfather Poetry ~ Your Wedding Day
A poem from a stepfather to his stepdaughter on her wedding day.
Your Wedding Day
Having you there when I entered your world,
Joy, knowing you would soon be my new little girl.
Watching you grow from a little girl to a woman,
Wowed, today is already your wedding day.
Remembering you asking me,
Stunned, I wasn’t lucky enough to enjoy
raising you from birth but, oh my,
Joyous, I’m privileged to give you away.
Reflecting, a tear falls from my eyes. You whisper,
Compassionate, “Dad, your little girl will be okay.”
Lifting your veil puts a smile on my face.
Proud, you’re a beautiful and strong young lady.
Handing you over to the man who is to be your husband,
Confident, I know you’ll be okay, but know I’m still here for you.
Shining, all of our eyes are shining with tears of love, joy, and hope.
Wishful, may all your dreams come true. I’m so proud of you.
