Stepmother Poetry ~ Maybe Someday

 Maybe Someday

Once upon a time, in our youth, our family was missing you

Before we knew you, before you became our stepmother

We were without, without your love, example, and support

A role you were yet to fulfill that we could only hope would come

Maybe someday

As good times have passed, your time to pass on has come along

Before we knew it, you have gone on, and we are left bereft

We are now without all the good times that were suppose to come

Without all the things we meant to do and say but were saving for

Maybe someday

A time of grievance, regret, and sorrow is the story arc of these times

Before we can go on, we honor and cherish you in memory

Your love and laughter, care and support, help and encouragement

We remember so that we can bring you with us, in heart and in mind

You are part of the story of our entire lives

You are remembered until we come together again

Definitely someday.
