National Tell A Joke Day ~ Friday Humor

National Tell A Joke day reminds everyone to get out and have a good laugh. Jokes have been part of human culture since 1900 BC. Joke-telling is an excellent way to induce laughter; the more jokes you tell, the happier you will be and everyone around you. So, this day brings loads of smiles and laughter to everyone.

Laughter is good medicine that draws people together. It can also improve your health and general well-being. Laughter can strengthen the immune system, boost mood and eliminate stress. A good laugh can change a gloomy day into a more tolerable one.

How to Spend National Tell A Joke Day

The reason for this celebration is to have a good laugh. So, tell friends, family, or colleagues a few good jokes. You can also share these hilarious jokes and have a good laugh.

1. Bert and Ernie had worked together as radio hosts for twenty years. They traded jokes, played pop music, and made people’s lives a touch brighter as they trundled to work.

During one of the breaks, they received a Fax. Ernie silently reread the fax message from the civil defense. Ernie picked up the page and was in shock.

As licensed broadcasters, they were legally obligated to alert the public, to tell them the nukes were flying and that all of the world’s troubles would be over in a few minutes.

What was the point of that, though? To torture people with the knowledge of something, they couldn’t change?

Their eyes met, and a decision was reached. Bert put on their most requested song, a sugary top 40 tune, while Ernie produced a bottle of bourbon from under the desk. As their producer banged on the locked studio door, the colleagues toasted the end of a long career.

Bert, always the consummate professional, turned away from the window as the first explosion split the distant horizon. He straightened his tie, tucked his shirt, and brushed his hair back. He would meet his fiery death with dignity.

Bert turned to Ernie and said in a quiet, resigned voice, “How do I look, Ernie?”

Ernie walked slowly over to his friend. He looked into Bert’s face and saw the closeness they shared, the strength of their relationship forged over the years; he took a deep breath and spoke quietly:

“With your eyes, Bert.”

2. My son told me this joke years ago, which is still my favorite. He came home from school one day and said, ‘Dad, I have a joke for you.’ I said, oh yes, let’s hear it. Very low expectations at this point. He said, ‘Why did the chicken cross the road?’

I replied with the usual, ‘I don’t know, son, why did the chicken cross the road?’. He said, ‘to get to the idiot’s house.’ I gave him a yuck, yuck, not to crush him, thinking he was still developing a sense of humor.

Anyway, he comes back again 10 minutes later and says, ‘Dad, I have another joke for you.’ I said, sure thing, son. He said, ‘knock, knock,’ I said, ‘who’s there?’ he said, ‘the chicken.’

Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive. —Elbert Hubbard
