How A Dad Can Help With Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding can be complicated, especially for new parents. A revelation for both Moms and Dads is it may seem natural for a newborn to nurse.

However, there’s actually a learning curve for both moms and babies! Look into getting professional advice, even before the baby is born.

Hospitals often offer breastfeeding classes, which both parents benefit from attending. A specialized lactation consultant can also help after the baby is born to make parents more confident about the entire experience.

Even if you have already had other kids, every baby is different. Maybe the first will feed nonstop, but the second needs to learn how to latch better.

Either way, a few breastfeeding essentials can make life infinitely easier. Some of these might even come as a surprise: who knew you’d need a dedicated drying rack?

Well, wait until you need to dry all those bottles and tiny pump parts, which may become Dad’s job. Bottle warmers can also be an added perk during sleep deprivation nights.

Breastfeeding may seem like a Mom’s job, but when Dads are more informed the journey becomes much smoother. Dads can help with the gear research, provide much-needed understanding and support, and help with bottle feeding to make nursing much more sustainable.

Your marriage and your baby will thank you for it!
