Stepfather Poetry ~ Ambreya Scarlett

The Completed Quilt

There once was a quilt made of some of the most beautiful patches of material the world had ever seen.

The quilt wanted so badly to be on display for everyone to see in the window of the quilt shop.  However, there was one small problem.

The quilt was missing a patch. The quilt knew it could never be on display with a hole like that.

It often wondered why its maker never finished it, but the truth was that the quilt maker just hadn’t found the right patch to fit. The quilt was sad because it thought it would never be whole and wanted so badly to feel complete.

Then, one day, the quilt maker picked up the quilt and sewed the world’s most spectacular patch right where the hole from the missing patch was.

It was a perfect fit!  The quilt felt so happy and cheerful.

It was now, for sure, the most beautiful quilt ever made.  The quilt’s dream had now come true; it finally got to be on display.

Dad,  even though you didn’t make me from the start, you made me whole.  Thanks for making the only steps in our house the ones we walk up and down.
