Fun Halloween Traditions To Start With Your Kids

Halloween is the time of year when kids get to dress up, go trick or treating and maybe watch a spooky movie with Mom and Dad. If you are looking for a few more ideas on how to make some more memories with your family, here are five fun Halloween traditions to start with your kids.

Corn Maze

A corn maze is a perfect tradition to start with your kids. Spending time together in a corn maze can also help families find an activity they can all do together. It is also perfect for all age groups.

The mazes found at local farms are different every year thanks to companies like MazePlay who are constantly providing new designs to entertain families for the current year. Some mazes have scavenger hunts built in that will keep your kids entertained and keep you guessing.

Carve Pumpkins

Going to a pumpkin patch can be a great activity to do with your kids. However, your kids will have a lot of fun picking out their pumpkins, so make sure you get a pumpkin for each member of the family.

Getting before and after photos of your kids with their pumpkins will always be a welcome addition to the scrapbook as well.

Bob for Apples

Bobbing for apples can be a cheap activity to do with your kids. Simply buy a bag of apples for a dollar or two and stick them in a container full of water.

Your kids will have fun splashing around, and it will make for some hilarious photos. This is a fun activity for mom and dad as well, so make sure everyone is included.

Decorate the House Together

Who says decorating the house is a chore? Grab your kids and go shopping for decorations together. They will love that you invited them, and they might also have a few spooky ideas that you would never have thought of.

If you are feeling adventurous, decorate using the supplies you have at your home, such as toilet paper or old stuffing. Don’t forget to use your carved pumpkins!

Getting Costumes

Planning out costumes with your kids can be a fun activity for the whole family and can help everyone get ideas. You might even find the costumes your kids are thinking of can be made out of things you have in the house or easily created with a few things from the store.

Involving kids in planning their costume will be a lot more fun, so try and plan it with them.

Make Halloween treats Together

Making treats with your kids can be a great bonding experience. Your kids will probably enjoy eating a cookie they decorated themselves. The more freedom the kids have on their creations the more fun they will have, so let them go wild.

If you want to make the process a little easier, you can grab some cookie mix or muffin mix and put them in the oven beforehand. Even other holiday treats like gingerbread houses can always be repurposed to make a spooky Halloween treat.

Corn mazes, pumpkin patch trips, bobbing for apples, decorating the house, making treats as a family, and picking out costumes are all great Halloween traditions to start with your kids.

It’ll create some fond memories for you and your kids, and some extra fun pictures in your family photo albums. Whatever you choose to do this Halloween, make sure you have fun!
