What To Include In Your Quarantine Routine

With social distancing and certain community restrictions due to the pandemic, everyday life has changed. People work from home, schools have gone online, and everyone has found a little more time on their hands. Schedules have been hard to keep, and some people are suffering from self-quarantine and isolation fatigue.

Now, as governments study the fluctuating results of COVID-19, more uncertainty lies ahead. Will schools open again? Will business shut down again? It’s hard to know for sure what will happen in the next couple of months.

All this uncertainty can be harmful to your mind and body. Feeling tossed back and forth in life can put a little wear and tear on your mental health.

A consistent schedule can be your anchor in times like these, but what kind of schedule can you have during a pandemic? Here are a few things you can include in your quarantine routine.

1. Wake Up At A Good Hour

Whether you’re a night owl or an early bird, waking up at the same time every day can be beneficial to you.

It helps your body get used to waking up at the same time, making you feel less tired. Try to find a good time for you, and you may have to create a bedtime curfew.

2. Get Some Exercise

The physical exertion is an essential part of any routine. If you stay at home now, you may not be used to all that time to relax.

The fears and stress of this time may also strain your body. Exercise is a simple solution to these problems: it keeps your body fit while releasing endorphins in your mind to help improve your levels of stress.

Walk, run, lift, or stretch each day for a healthy boost and steady routine.

3. Do Something Productive

It’s always good to have a plan to do something that will focus your mind and improve some aspect of your life.

Each day, plan something you can do to fix something, work on something, or do something that will benefit you in the future.

Even if it’s small, you can feel right about being productive.

4. Connect with Others

Although you are probably staying at home to lower the risk of getting sick, you can still connect with your family members and peers.

Find a little time each day to send a text to a friend or have a phone call with a family member. Humans crave interaction, so don’t forget to include this during your self-quarantine.

5. Personal Hygiene

Leave a little time for yourself each day. Enjoy the time when you’re showering or taking care of your skin.

Manicures, at-home spa treatments, and other types of self-care can help you relax and destress.

6. Do Something You Love

It’s always important to do something you enjoy doing each day. Think about your hobbies and which ones you have neglected lately.

Schedule out some time to work on those. Listen to music, paint, or build something and let your mind wander.
