New Year’s Resolutions for High School Students

Many people love making New Year’s resolutions. No matter whether they plan to stick to them.

If you’re a high school student, some of the resolutions you make can be aimed towards your high school career and future higher education.

Here are some of the most useful resolutions you can make that can positively affect your grades, happiness and overall high school days.

I Will Start my College/University Search

As the new year starts, it’s the perfect time to start looking into colleges and universities. Do your research to make sure the university you opt for offers programs, campus, and majors that align with your educational goals and lifestyle.

Pay extra attention to majors the college is offering and choose the one that has programs you’re interested in. Look into extracurricular activities you can sign up for.

Make sure to start early on implementing your resolution to avoid the stress of a last-minute decision.

I Will get Better Grades

Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but saying “I will improve my grades” is very easy compared to actually sticking to your resolution and seeing it through. However, if you set realistic goals, such as raising your math grade from B to A is less abstract and more measurable.

If you have a problem with your homework, make a resolution to keep better track of your assignments and dedicate at least an hour to your out-of-school studying. You can also make a resolution to get a good student tutor, join a study group or a good tuition centre in Australia.

You have to realize if you want excellent results, you have to work every day. Having aid and mentors is an integral part of achieving success.

I Will Quit Things that Make me Unhappy

Everyone has some annoying study habits that are doing them more harm than good. This is often the cause of their dissatisfaction.

For instance, if you used to love your chess club, but now the thought of chess makes you anxious and stressed, quit it. Instead, take up those photography classes you’ve always wanted to take and devote your time to something that actually makes you happy.

Do toxic atmosphere and relationships inside your group of friends bother you and make you stressed? Try to find friends who will make you feel good instead of the other way round.

However, this doesn’t mean you should quit everything you don’t like and do nothing. Your resolution should just be to replace things that make you miserable with something positive.

I Will Make a Change

One of the best New Year’s resolutions high school students (and anyone really) can make is to make a positive change in the world. To do that, you don’t have to be Gandhi, a millionaire or even the smartest kid in the class.

All you have to do is make someone’s day by offering them help or support when they need it. If you make an effort, you can contribute and make an impact with even the smallest things.

All of these little changes can make you and those around you feel better. It’s a great resolution, isn’t it?

I Will Enjoy High School

Yes, you should concentrate on learning in high school, but that’s not all this period of your life is about. Take advantage of this time and enjoy it before you become an adult.

Hang out with friends, explore new interests and stop to remember even the smallest details of your high school life, because time really does fly.

This time around, welcome the New Year with a smile on your face and your resolutions ready. Stick to them and you’ll be ready to tackle everything high school life throws your way.

Happy New Year!
